One block, slowly
An observation walk without a special destination.

Imagined landscape illustration; not a map of this activity.
Define a small area
Choose one familiar block or a short stretch of path. Look for a route that allows ordinary stopping without obstructing others. You are collecting relationships, not recording every frontage.
Look for repetitions
Notice three repeated shapes: windows, shadows, paving or gaps. Make one frame for each and keep the distance varied. Avoid making identifiable people the subject without considering their privacy.
Find an exception
Look for a shape or colour that breaks the pattern. A small deviation can give the set an ending. Check the edges of the frame and simplify anything that distracts from the relationship.
Write a plain description
Describe the sequence in one sentence. Leave out exact addresses if they add nothing to the exercise. A small area can produce another useful walk simply by changing the time or the subject.
