Stay in one place
A stationary alternative to collecting distance.

Imagined landscape illustration; not a map of this activity.
Choose a comfortable place
Use a bench, a sheltered public viewpoint or another place where you can pause comfortably. The exercise can also work from a window. Begin by describing the broad arrangement of light and dark areas.
Change the frame
Make a wide view and then two tighter compositions without needing to move around. Look for separate relationships inside the same scene. If you use zoom, compare the result at ordinary viewing size.
Wait for a small change
Watch for moving shadows, leaves or reflections. Make another frame only when the arrangement has changed in a way you can describe. The aim is to notice a difference, not fill the camera roll.
Record the constant
Write down what remained stable while other things moved. That may become the anchor for a later visit. Keep the note even if no photograph feels worth sharing.
