The short loop
A little time, a familiar path, three pauses.

Imagined landscape illustration; not a map of this activity.
Before you leave
Choose a loop you already know and can comfortably complete. Use the first few minutes to notice the prevailing light. Decide on one subject for the walk: colour, repeated lines or changes in surface.
At the first pause
Make a wide picture that shows how the path sits in its surroundings. Then write down one detail that did not appear in that frame. This gives the next part of the walk a simple question.
At the second pause
Look for that detail at a different scale. Photograph a texture, reflection or edge. Do not worry if the subject has changed; record the reason you changed your attention.
At the final pause
Make a connecting frame and review the three pictures together. Keep one sentence about the walk. The suggested time is flexible; a useful loop can be shorter, and it does not require tracking distance.
