Waterside intervals
Look at the meeting of moving and still things.

Choose the ordinary viewpoint
Use a familiar public path with comfortable places to stop. The exercise works from well back from the water. Notice the large divisions first: bank, surface, reflection and distant edge.
Compare two moments
Frame one reflection, wait, and make another picture. Look for a change in rhythm rather than a perfect mirror. Keep the camera position similar so that the movement becomes easier to compare.
Turn away from the water
Find a neighbouring surface that responds to the same light: a wall, leaves or a railing. This introduces contrast and stops the sequence from becoming a collection of near-identical reflections.
Make a pair
Choose one water image and one neighbouring detail. Write a caption about what connects them. Stop whenever the path or conditions become inconvenient; the observation can be made in a few minutes.
